Dario Argento, 1975 Argento's personal view on horror.
A book about Argento.
Great book on cult films. In a section called Film Personalities, by Jim Morton,
there is a few paragraphs on Argento calling him "the most talented of the recent
crop of Italian horror directors. He even says that Inferno is one of
the closest film interpretation of a dream (or nightmare) in the history of
cinema.
The first chapter (22 pages) is dedicated to Argento only, whereas the other chapters
include related foreign and domestic horror flicks.
An Italian book that is a career retrospective essay. There is a filmography
at the back, and it's illustrated with some black and white stills.
The book is adapted from McDonagh's master's thesis. The book breaks down Argento's
movies from The Bird With the Crystal Plumage to Trauma. It also
contains an interview with Argento, a filmography and a biblography.
Includes an essay about Argento, titled L'occhio nella lama, by Fabio
Giovannini.
Twenty-one page overview of Argento's career up to Two Evil Eyes.
This book contains twenty chapters about twenty different directors. There is
ten pages on Argento, covering The Bird With the Crystal Plumage to Trauma.
It also contains a filmography.
This book includes a chapter on Argento.
Overview of horror
with interviews of Argento, George Romero, Sergio Stivaletti and others.
Overview of Italian horror with interviews and filmographies of Argento, his
brother Claudio, Stefania Casini, Mimsy Farmer, Daria Nicolodi, Tom Savini and
others.
Novelisation of The Stendhal Syndrome.
The book breaks down Argento's movies from The Bird With the Crystal Plumage
to The Stendhal Syndrome. It also contains an interview with Argento,
a filmography, a biblography and lots of color and black and white pictures.
The book is a study of post-1968
horror films. The author claims that Inferno is Argento's masterpiece.
Novelisations of Suspiria, Inferno, Phenomena La porta sul
buio Demoni and Opera. Opera is written by Ivo Scanner (Fabio
Giovannini).
The book contains
a profile, interview and filmography of Daria Nicolodi, and has reference of
Dario.
I am very disapointed with this. I paid $13 sight unseen for this which is nothing
more that 8 xeroxed pages (badly done) folded in half of various European film
posters. It sounded great when I ordered it. Does contain some posters of Dario's
films.
The book contains extensive profiles, and filmographies of the ten most influential
directors of Italian horror films (Dario Argento, Lamberto Bava, Mario Bava,
Ruggero Deodato, Lucio Fulci, Umberto Lenzi, Antonio Margheritti, Aristede Massaccesi
(Joe D'Amato), Bruno Mattei & Michele Soavi). See Blood

who loved it.
A one page review of The Cat O'Nine Tails by Dario himself, it is an
interesting article. He mentions that it is a loose sequel to The Bird With
The Crystal Plumage (as Tenebrae is to Deep Red). Dario also

A six page listing of the so-called 25 scariest movies. Suspiria comes
in at number 18. Here's what they had to say: Survive the first 10 minutes and
you're home free. The opening act of Italian horror maestro Argento's ultra-stylized
screamer-about a ballet student (Pennies from Heaven's Jessica Harper)
who suspects that her dance academy is actually a witches' coven-contains what
gets our vote for the most vicious murder scene ever filmed, complete with a
close-up of the knife puncturing the victim's beating heart. Fortunately, Harper
fared considerably better. "When those maggots were crawling around in my hair,
they were actually grains of rice." she recalls. "They were the stunt doubles
for the maggots."
