In Deep Red a psychic (Macha Meril), while lecturing in Rome, senses a killer in the room. While she is having a violent reaction, the killer leaves. Later that night she is murdered. The murder is witnessed by her neighbor, a pianist, (Dave Hemmings) on his way home. After talking to the police he knows that a painting is missing from the victims apartment. Hemmings is joined by a reporter (Daria Nicolodi) who is looking for a break. As they get closer to the identity of the killer, the people who hold the clues are killed off. Deep Red includes a reoccurring recording of a child singing and a sadistic little girl. The music by Goblin, an Italian horror-rock group, is really good; especially the music that is played while Hemmings is searching the old house and the school.
